Allsup and Jimmy Greenspoon to form Three Dog Night, Negron picked most of the songs, starting with Harry Nilsson's One (Is The Loneliest Number). And it is Negron's voice on Easy to Be Hard, Old Fashioned Love Song and Joy to the World. Drug abuse tore the group apart, and it disbanded in 1977. Negron described his battle with addiction in the book Three Dog Nightmare and became a leader in the anti-drug movement. The same year that Three Dog Night made its first record, Al Kooper and Steve Katz, former members of the Blues Project, were putting together a band that would combine brass with strings. By the time that group recorded its self-titled second album, Blood, Sweat & Tears, the line-up had changed. Justice Ellen Macdonald of the Ontario Superior Court certified a class-action lawsuit Jan. 18 against Johnson & Johnson, Toronto-based law firm Rochon Genova LLP said today in a Canada NewsWire release. Rochon Genova represents one of the plaintiffs in the case. Fifteen-year-old Ontario resident Vanessa Young died in 2000 after having been prescribed the drug, Rochon Genova said. In April 2001 a coroner's jury in Hamilton, Ontario, found that Young died of heart complications after taking the drug, which is used to treat a type of heartburn, Rochon Genova said.
